The 2018 Maria di Brün seems a bit flatter than 2019, with more forest undergrowth and less bright, vibrant fruit. There's still that balsamic freshness, however, and the palate displays its sweet fruit in a slightly more subdued manner, along with licks of volatile acidity, structural tannins and sweet spices.

The 2018 Barbaresco Maria di Brun is a deep, effusive wine endowed with striking aromatic presence and a good deal of depth, too. Rose petal, spice, blood orange and cherries in liqueur give the 2018 its bright, lifted personality. I would give the 2018 a few years to soften. The presence of the fruit is quite appealing.
