The 2021 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has plenty of fruit on the nose: raspberry, cranberry and bergamot, with hints of crushed stone and blood orange merging with time in the glass, all delivered with wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, very pure with raspberry, strawberry, rosehip and a touch of mint. Cohesive with impressive density on the finish, this is an excellent Clos de Bèze. The 2021 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru contains 15% whole bunches though it seemed like a little more. Complex on the nose, this offers vibrant red fruit, light tobacco and loamy scents that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins, impressive depth and so much elegance. The 25% new oak is spot on and it delivers a sensual finish that leaves you yearning for another sip. Outstanding.
The most reserved wine in the range at this early stage is the 2021 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy wine evocative of dark berries, cherries, vine smoke, spices and forest floor. With lively acids and sweet, powdery tannins, it's seamless and harmonious.
