Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2026-2045, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Nov 2025

The ruby-red 2023 Bürgel Dalsheim Spätburgunder GG is still somewhat reductive on the nose, with delicate red berry fruit and subtle smoky notes. It is pleasantly dense and juicy. Fermented with 35% whole clusters, this is a delicate and filigreed, silky textured and lively Pinot Noir with very fine tannins and a structure of fresh and refreshing chalky acidity. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2025.

The 2023 Spätburgunder Dalsheimer Bürgel Grosses Gewächs is initially redolent of reduction. Underneath that, red cherry beckons with ripeness and smoothness. The palate is right away silky, bright and flowing. There is something tender, creamy and charmingly red-fruited that brings tart berry and cherry notes. Yes, there is poetry in this wine that is almost playful and totally disarming. (Bone-dry)

Yields 35 hl/ha, Muschelkalk (fossil limestone) soil, south-facing, 30% whole bunch. Plant material is all French clones. 5–10% new oak. Bottled beginning of March 2025 and will be released October 2025. Lightish ruby. Lifted (but not volatile) wild scent of sour red fruits and an almost minty note. Prettily floral. Plus a light herbal spiciness yet not overly marked by the stems. Enticing aroma that is both delicate and has layered complexity. Reminds me of a woody herb. Then a sudden burst of sweetness and acidity on the palate. Sweet with wild strawberries and tart with wild berries. It changes so much in the glass – hard to keep up with its mercurial nature. Ultra-fine but present tannins that become deeper on second taste and provide a foundation for the scent. More herbal with air but not at all green. Extremely mouth-watering. (JH)
