Da bere 2025-2035, FINE+RARE, Apr 2024

This is a wonderfully intense Grand Village full of ripe red fruit, with aromas of raspberry and sour cherry that emerge. The mid-palate is similarly rich but with a more savoury profile, with notes of dried tobacco and an earthy minerality that carries through to the long finish. The 2023 benefits from a higher proportion of Merlot, including plots that would normally go into Les Perrières. This Grand Village is particularly precise and offers exceptional value from an estate of great wine-making prowess. Blend: 91% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc

The 2023 Grand Village has a refined bouquet with blackberry and raspberry fruit, very harmonious and delineated, certainly less rustic than you would have found 10 years ago. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp line of acidity, quite sapid in the mouth with a slightly chalky texture toward the finish. This is a delightful Grand Village that should give at least 10 years' drinking pleasure.

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2026-2038, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2026

Based on 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc from deeper, clay soils, the ruby/plum-hued 2023 Château Grand Village spent a year in 30% new French oak before bottling. It tastes like a mini Pomerol with its ripe, juicy black cherries, damp earth, roasted herbs, and graphite. It's medium-bodied and has a pure, focused, layered mouthfeel and a great finish. Drink 2026-2038.
