Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2018-2020, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Dec 2018

The 2013 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots from Maxime Cherluin is already drinking beautifully, and given the wine's youthful flair and giving structural profile, I can see no argument for deferring gratification. The wine wafts from the glass with a rich bouquet of dark fruit, game bird, loamy soil and forest floor, framed by classy new oak; the prelude to a full-bodied, velvety, open-knit palate with a nicely sapid finish. Delicious now but built for the short haul.

(Cheurlin bottled this wine in early June of 2015, along with the Beaux-Monts, Echézeaux and Grands-Echézeaux): Full, dark red. Very reduced nose reveals a touch of leathery rusticity. Sweet and rich in the mouth, even thick for the year, but with saline minerality dominating primary fruit. Slightly dry on the end. Owing to a high percentage of millerandé grapes, this fruit reached full phenolic maturity as well as the highest potential alcohol of these 2013s. Perhaps picked a bit late.

The 2013 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots has a deep ruby color. It has a slight reduction on the nose, although underneath there are some pure, glycerin-rich blackberry and raspberry fruit. The palate is nicely balanced with a keen level of acidity, moderate depth with tart red fruit toward the finish. I would just like to see a little more substance here - maybe a bit less gloss.
