Full-bodied, richly tannic, even a bit chewy, Perret's 2015 Saint Joseph is a bit atypical for this cuvée. It delivers savory notes of black olives and roasted meat alongside hints of graham crackers and black cherries, reflecting the vintage's low yields and warm temperatures, yet it ends long and velvety. It would benefit from a couple of years in the cellar, then should drink well for the next decade.

Deep, vivid ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, pungent flowers and peppery spices, lifted by a spicy hint of cracked pepper. Sweet and broad on the palate, offering pliant red and blue fruit flavors that pick up a smoky accent on the back half. Rich, in the style of the year, but there's very good energy here as well. Finishes long and spicy, with sneaky tannins lending framework.
(fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for a year in neutral barriques and demi-muids ): Brilliant violet color. Intense, spice-accented aromas of cassis, violet and smoky mineral show very good lift and clarity. Offers spicy red and dark berry and floral pastille flavors that show very good focus and depth, along with a floral pastille flourish on the back half. The long floral-tinged finish features slow-building tannins and lingering raspberry and violet character.
