A step up over the Le Méal, brilliant aromatics of cassis, graphite, and crushed stone give way to more violet and burning ember-like nuances with air in the 2024 Ermitage Le Pavillon. It's deep purple-hued and has truly brilliant aromatics with real density and depth. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it offers fine, polished, building tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. If there's a “wow” wine in the vintage, this is it.

The highly complex 2024 Ermitage Le Pavillon rises from the glass with vivid blood orange, crushed violets, raspberry compote, white pepper and fine stone dust. Broad-shouldered, rounded and brimming with energy, the 2024 is shaping up to be a singular Le Pavillon, flowing into a long finish marked by precision, refinement and quiet authority.
G ranite of Les Bessards, 65-year-old vines and 10% whole bunch. Cask sample. Almost soft! Very round fruit with the longevity hidden under all that sumptuous fruit. Luxurious wine. Cashmere tannins? Very flattering but by no means simple. Super-smart Syrah. So polished! Sweet. (JR)
Cask sample. A wonderful nose here that shows such vivacity, depth and concentration – quite remarkable. A ripe palate and supremely concentrated and intense with blackberry and cassis popping in the mouth. Tight yet also with supple textured and precise tannins and a sense of coolness and freshness. Really a fascinating wine that has such balance and ability to age yet will be approachable earlier as well. Supreme . (AC)
