The 2006 Quimera has more volume and complexity on the nose compared to the 2002. The nose is melted and harmonious with raspberry, wild strawberry, fennel and sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied with a dash of white pepper at the front of the mouth. It is very harmonious with great poise and tension on the graphite-tinged finish, though I was seeking more gumption overall. Drink now-2018. Importer: TGIC Imports, Woodland Hills, CA; tel. Dark chocolate, black cherry, cedar and mint. The concentration and length hints at its ageing potential, and the quality of flavours is self-evident despite the wine's immaturity. A keeper. (RH)
(a blend of malbec, merlot and cabernets sauvignon and franc) Bright ruby-red. Aromatic nose combines cassis, leather, licorice and violet. Suave, moderately deep and dense flavors of peppery black fruits lead to a fine-grained but youthfully tough finish. The peppery element carries through to the aftertaste. This needs time.
34% Malbec, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc . Aged in French oak for 12 months. Grapes from Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo . Again, very lifted and polished. Not too heavy or thick. Quite noticeable acidity. (JR)
