The 2023 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Long Gold Capsule (Auction) is bright and very clear on the nose that indicates overripe yet healthy fruit that leaves room for the highly refined blue and gray slate aroma of the Sonnenuhr. Sweet and savory on the palate, this is an elegant, very intense and stimulatingly saline Auslese with perfectly ripe, concentrated fruit and the crunchy slate grip of the WSU combined with the intensity and generosity of the 2023 vintage. This is highly stimulating. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024 form AP 21 24.

The 2023 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese Lange Goldkapsel results from a selection of partly dried, partly super-clean dried botrytized berries and was made in one 55-liter glass balloon. The nose is shy, but the palate comes with gorgeous notes of candied passion fruit and orange peel. Concentration is undeniable, as are exquisite contour and poise. The purity and length of orange and passion fruit are sublime, dripping with smooth, fluid liquidity. So beautiful and pristine. Available at auction: 36 half-bottles, 24 bottles, one magnum. (Sweet)
