From this great site comes the 2023 Pagani Ranch Norma's Block, leading the way with 72% Zinfandel followed by 14% Alicante Bouschet, 10% Petite Sirah, and 2% each of Grand Noir and Lenoir, very obscure grapes in California. The parcels date back to the 1900s, with some of the original plantings still left. From the cooler-climate vintage that was 2023, this offers a juicy core of blood orange and floral aromatics, elegant and lengthy with structure and texture. I really love its chocolaty spice that coats through the medium-bodied intensity and richness of the wine. Drink now through 2033.
