2021 Rhys Syrah Horseshoe Vineyard

Even more impressive than the stunning Bearwallow bottling is the spectacular 2021 Syrah Horseshoe Vineyard. This managed to be both more concentrated and graceful, skewing toward Syrah's savory, meaty side versus the relatively floral Bearwallow. The palate combines a punchy, opulent richness with exquisite refinement before delivering an absolutely astonishing, explosive and atomic finish of flashy yet focused richness framed by tight, inward, incredibly wound-up tannins. The energy displayed in the conclusion of this wine was staggering, and although it will take substantial cellaring and patience to see this wine's full potential, I have no doubt it will be rewarded.
