Note di degustazione
Probably consisting entirely of red Grenache and bottled last year, the 1945 Rivesaltes has a deep chestnut hue with a light tawny rim. It has an endearing nose with stewed oranges, camphor, woodbine and a touch of black currant, all well-defined considering its age. The palate has a medicinal entry with star anis, fennel, macerated dark cherries and dark plum. It has a pleasant bitter twist toward the rancio finish that just needs a little more depth, but otherwise this is a lovely mature Rivesaltes. Drink now-2020+

Very old monastery in the Pyrenees which stopped producing VDN 25 years ago. Bottled in 2013. Incredibly dark fox red with an orange rim. Very bright. Smells of toffee and 65-70% Grenache Noir with pale Grenache mainly. Hint of rancio and firm treacly finish. Finishes a little suddenly. Good freshness. Not at all heavy. Finishes quite dry in fact.
