Like the 1968, the 1966 is a blend of 50% Grenache Noir and the remainder white grapes – Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, Macabeu and Tourbat. The 1966 does not quite possess the exuberance of the 1968, but it has a light smoke, raisin and a touch of dried dates. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It is lighter, harmonious and balanced with a straight-laced, linear finish that is precise, but not as concentrated as the 1968. It just feels a little enervated compared to some of the others. Tasted December 2012.

50% Grenache Noir and 50% white grapes: Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, Maccabeu, Tourbat. Slightly lighter and more orange than the 1968. Lots of development. Orange peel and liquorice. Very fresh AND sweet. Smoother than the 1968. Very good. (JR)
