While similar in composition (69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot and 11% Cabernet Franc) to the 2022 version—a blend of Pritchard Hill, Madrona and Las Posadas fruit—the 2021 DB4 Red Wine Blend is less alcoholic and more refined, marrying cherries and redcurrants with slight leafy notes. It's medium- to full-bodied, streamlined and silky, showing excellent balance and shape on the palate, then finishing long, framed by ripe tannins.

The 2021 DB4 sports a deep ruby/plum hue as well as a powerful, full-bodied style in its ripe black fruits, smoked herbs, graphite, and chocolate-like aromatics. It has a terrific sense of minerality, tons of richness and mid-palate depth, and a great finish.
The 2021 DB 4 is compelling. Rich and enveloping, the 2021 offers up copious inky dark fruit, chocolate, lavender and licorice, filling out the layers nicely. This is a gorgeous edition of the DB 4. There's a lot of wine here.
