The 2022 Le Châtelet has a nicely detailed bouquet of dark berries, cherries and spices mingled with mulberry notes. Medium to full-bodied, enveloping and charming, it's seamless with good depth at the core and a long, lively, charming finish. This blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, all planted near Beau-Séjour Bécot and Clos Fourtet, is an attractive, sensual wine.

The 2022 Château Le Chatelet has a well-oaked nose of ripe red and black fruits, chocolate, leafy tobacco, and crushed stone. This carries to a beautifully concentrated, pure, medium to full-bodied Saint-Emilion that has a broad, layered mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and a great finish.
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. 15% of the wine is aged in amphora. Julien Berjal’s 3.18-ha property up on the plateau just west of the town. Cask sample. Exciting wine. Deep crimson. Heady nose. Really rather voluptuous with a lot going on underneath. Massive energy and so sumptuous! Tannins just wave weakly, almost drowned out by the meticulously guided fruit. Really impressive. Long. (JR)
