Note di degustazione
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos St. Marc 1er Cru comes across a little smudged on the nose, the oak a little heavy in proportion to the fruit concentration. This may have been picked a day or two tardy. The palate is medium-bodied with a pastille-like entry and notes of red fruit laced with orange rind and allspice. There isn’t much grip on the finish, but there is a sense of tension. What is missing is a little harmony, and I speculate as to whether there was some adjustment in the winery. If there was, then I think it is assiduously applied, but it doesn't match my expectations from barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos St. Marc 1er Cru is from Rion’s monopole , just under a hectare on Ostrea limestone marl, soil rich in fossilized oyster shells. That mineral element really defines the nose, scents of shucked oyster shells and limestone permeating the transparent red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, superb structure, a keen line of acidity and a beautifully structured and persistent finish. Outstanding.
