The 2015 Pinot Noir Machado shows the more briny, tight, firm style of the 2015 vintage as well as medium-bodied richness, terrific purity, building tannins, and solid length. As with a lot of 2015s, it needs another year or two of bottle age. This was another thrilling lineup from Greg Brewer, and I consistently rate these wines as some of the greatest in the Sta. Rita Hills, as well as all of Santa Barbara County. In addition to the latest releases, I was also able to taste retrospectives of his Chardonnay 3D and Pinot Noir Machado, which only reaffirmed my belief in the quality and age-worthiness of these wines. These are brilliant wines.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Machado is a classic Sta. Rita Hills built on exuberance and racy, voluptuous fruit. There is fabulous drive to this creamy, layered Pinot with layers of flavor and texture, not to mention tons of pure appeal.
Pale ruby-purple in color, the 2015 Pinot Noir Machado is scented of kirsch and pomegranate with an undercurrent of forest floor, sautéed herbs, cinnamon stick and fallen leaves. Medium-bodied, the palate packs in the intense red berry and earthy flavors with a chewy backbone supporting the dense fruit through the long, lively finish.
