The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Lotus Vineyard comes from a site at the base of Howell Mountain, and it might be my favorite of the lineup in 2022. Red plums, flowery incense, spicy wood, and smoke tobacco notes, as well as an iron-like character, all shine here, and this beauty is full-bodied, has a rich, expansive, layered mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It has more mid-palate depth than just about every other wine in the vintage. It offers plenty of pleasure today yet still warrants 2-4 years of bottle age. It should have two decades of prime drinking.
