Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2022-2032, Neal Martin, Aug 2023

The 1967 Palmer is a vintage that I had not encountered for many years. It has a gorgeous, mellow, fully mature, almost Burgundy-like bouquet with melted red berries, thyme, fennel and a light irony note. The palate is tart and medium-bodied with a grainy entry, high acidity, brown spices and sandalwood. Obviously, this is mature, maybe over the hill, but only slightly. This Palmer still gives pleasure and ranks as one of the best Left Bank wines I have tasted from this challenging growing season. Tasted at the Palmer vertical at the château.

Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 1996, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

This wine has been a sleeper of the vintage - always providing surprisingly delicious drinking. The most recent tasting (from a magnum) revealed a wine that was not a blockbuster, rather, the quintessentially elegant style of claret that seems incapable of being replicated in the New World. The color is a mature garnet with considerable rust at the edge. A sweet nose of cedar, fruitcake, berries, and tobacco is followed by a medium-weight, light-styled Pomerol that retains its fresh, ripe fruit, as well as a vibrancy that seems unusual for the vintage. I have a half-dozen tasting notes for the 1967, and they reveal I have consistently found this to be a charming, light-weight, but delicious claret. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted 12/96
