The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard doesn't give much, if anything, to the Elysian and has a similar perfume of pure cassis and black cherry fruit supported by scorched earth, graphite, black licorice, and earthy tobacco. With incredible mid-palate depth, ripe, polished tannin, full-bodied power and richness, and one hell of a great finish, this brilliant Dr. Crane will benefit from just a few years in the cellar and have over two decades of longevity. It should have a touch more up-front charm compared to the Elysian, which needs slightly more bottle age.

Myriad's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard is another superb example of Cabernet Sauvignon from Mike Smith—one of Napa Valley's finest winemakers. Expansive aromas of mixed cherries, baking spices and complex notes of loamy earth appear on the nose, while the palate is full-bodied and plush, yet remarkably fresh as well, with terrific length and silky-velvety tannins on the finish.
From a great site in St. Helena, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is another deep purple-hued barrel sample from Mike that has incredible purity in its ripe blackcurrant and cassis fruits as well as notes of chocolate, lead pencil, and scorched earth. Perfectly balanced, full-bodied, and concentrated, with silky tannins, it's going to just about blow you away any time over the coming two decades.
