The 2013 Pinot Noir Mays Canyon is one of the darker wines in the range. There is good up-front fruit, but then the tannins become a bit more austere through the middle and into the finish. Hints of dried flowers, herbs, licorice, red cherries, plums and mint add nuance, while savory notes add an attractive flourish on the close. The Mays Canyon is a solid wine for the year.

The 2013 Pinot Noir Mays Canyon is striking and also quite a contrast to some of the other Pinots in this range that are a bit compact. Bright red cherries, freshly cut flowers, mint and cinnamon jump from the glass in a beautifully delineated, succulent Pinot full of personality. Like all the 2013s, I suspect the Mays Canyon will drink well relatively early, but it also has enough depth to age well for at least a handful of years.
