Note di degustazione
The 2009 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée De Mon Aïeul showed beautifully, with a classic, Provençal, medium to full-bodied, seamless style as well as textbook ripe black cherries, garrigue, spice, and incense nuances. Flawlessly balanced and seamless, with integrated tannins and no hard edges, it surprisingly reminds me slightly of the 2006 with its complete, Provençal, satisfying style. This builds nicely with air, so don't be afraid to give it a quick decant. Made from 100% Grenache, raised all in concrete tanks, drink this brilliant 2009 over the coming decade. Drink: 2025-2034.

Still aging nicely, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul is showing some bricking at the rim. Hints of leather, dried spices and licorice accent notes of dried cherries, dates and figs. Full-bodied and silky-textured, it finishes with traces of warmth that will likely become more prominent as the wine ages further.
Dark ruby. Musky aromas of blackberry and spice cake, with complicating fennel, smoke and truffle notes. Dense, spicy and focused, with deep dark fruit flavors joined by a sexy floral element on the palate. Not a fat or fleshy style but in no way hard. Finishes long, with lingering sweetness and smokiness.
