Good dark red. Knockout nose combines musky raspberry, crushed stone, minerals, flowers and sexy oak spices. Tactile, saline and quite primary, with terrific verve to its red fruit and mineral flavors. Already displays superb precision but will need time in bottle to absorb its acidity. Finishes juicy, gripping and very long.

The 2010 Echezeaux brings together all of the best elements of the vintage in its deep, expressive layers of fruit. It boasts gorgeous textural finesse and silkiness in endless dimensions of fruit that wrap around the finish. This is pure sensuality and elegance. I loved it. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2045. Jean-Nicolas Meo was away on the day of my visit, so I tasted with assistant winemaker Peer Reiss. The harvest started on September 22 and took about ten days to complete. Overall, I am a big fan of the 2010s here. Although I did not get a chance to taste the 2009s from bottle, my notes suggest 2010 will turn out to be the more interesting vintage.
