100% new oak. Dark garnet. A bit reduced. Round and spicy. With good freshness and lots of tension on the end. Positively grainy finish. (JR)

Bright, dark red. Aromas of black raspberry and smoky minerality complicated by licorice and sexy soil tones. Concentrated and fine-grained, offering noteworthy finesse to its lively flavors of cherry, raspberry and boysenberry. (Bernstein noted that "the smell when I filled the barrels was black; now it's redder.") Combines a velvety texture with terrific lift, no doubt due in part to the use of whole clusters. The resounding finish features captivating floral lift.
(from 15+ year old vines). A deft touch of wood frames the spicy dark raspberry liqueur-suffused nose. This is also exceptionally rich, indeed the mouth feel of the medium-bodied flavors is opulent and suave though a light touch of minerality adds a sense of lift to the lush and generous finish that also manages to avoid any sense of heaviness. That said, this isn’t light on its feet. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
