Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2026-2039, Kristaps Karklins, Wine Advocate, Sep 2025

Tasted from magnum, disgorged in February 2023 with a dosage of four grams per liter, the 2009 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is even more textural and compelling than in standard format. It soars from the glass with aromas of ripe pear, lemon confit, succulent peach and orange mingling with fresh hazelnut and toasted wheat, singed with a house’s gently reductive, smoky signature. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and both grandiose and precise, with a fleshy core of fruit, tangy acidity, a pillowy mousse and a resonant saline finish. More sumptuous and slightly less tensile than the 2013, it is nonetheless a seductive Champagne and is drinking superbly today. Entirely sourced from grand cru vineyards, the 2009—once deemed a hot, dry vintage—now seems almost classical when viewed against the backdrop of more recent growing seasons.

Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2018-2025, Jancis Robinson MW, May 2022

Chef de cave Frédéric Panaïotis pointed out that 2009 was not especially hot but was notable dry. 82% from grands crus on the Côte des Blancs (Cramant, Chouilly, Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) and 18% from Sillery on the Montagne de Reims. After eight years on lees this bottle was disgorged in March 2018 and given a dosage of just 4 g/l. Full malo as usual at Ruinart but they don’t like diacetyl and actively try to avoid it. No oak involved. Quite rich, with the lower acid level characteristic of this vintage but very welcoming and drinking well now and with more vivacity than many 2009s. (JR)

The 2009 Dom Ruinart is showing beautifully today. Rich and ample with terrific freshness, the 2009 is a gorgeous, modern-day Dom Ruinart that marries vinous intensity with energy and more tension than the wines of a decade ago. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint, baked apple tart, chamomile and gently spiced notes resonate in the glass. Best of all, the 2009 looks like a Champagne that will offer a very broad drinking window of pure pleasure. Disgorged: March, 2018.
