Coming directly from Pavie's cellars, this is an exceptional opportunity to add a flawless wine with unparalleled longevity to your collection. Robert Parker puts an impressive drinking window until 2100 on the 2010 Pavie. Whilst it may be unfathomable to wait that long with something so enticing in the cellar, it certainly makes this look a very compelling buy. With a considerable part of the ageing already taken care of for you in Pavie’s cellars, you will not have that much longer to wait before it you can start enjoying the promised rewards. Parker writes that Pavie represents “the finest wine money can provide. If wine is to be judged by what is in the bottle, Pavie has become a fabulous first-growth-quality estate, offering extraordinary elegance married to awesome levels of richness.” This is perfectly demonstrated in the flawless 2010 and we can think of no reason not to cave and make a case of this "truly profound Bordeaux" your own.

Pure perfection, the 2010 Château Pavie has that rare mix of richness and elegance that's so hard to find yet seems to emerge from this address with ease. Incredible darker berry fruits, white truffle, crushed stone, sappy flowers, and smoky, tobacco-like nuances all define the aromatics, and it's full-bodied, with a focused, yet rich, intense mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a blockbuster of a finish. It’s another 2010 that’s just now at the early stages of its prime drinking window and should cruise in cold cellars over the coming three decades.

70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 24 months in oak (80% new).  Very high tannic grip, bitter and savoury with layers of aniseed, medicinal flavours, savoury black fruit, olive and oak spice. Incredibly dominant tannins, giving a rasping drying finish. Still not ready, even at 15 years old. The score reflects its awkwardness now; the plus signs represent its potential. (RH)

Standout quality in an exceptional vintage for Bordeaux, still an absolute baby. Expect a slab of liquorice and chocolate, with an expertly-judged slash of acidity that adds tension and cuts through the opulence of the black cherry, cassis, cigar box, liquorice and kirsch. Intense smoke emerges as it opens, coiled and ready to take it further over the next decade. It's a big wine, not taking any prisoners even at 15 years old, but it is sculpted, chiselled, mouthwatering, and will continue to age for decades - I suggest putting this back in the cellar for now. 80% new oak, brought down from 100% as of the 2006 vintage. Gerard Perse owner, Michel Rolland consultant, Jean-Baptiste Pion winemaker.
