The 2021 Ried Steinporz Riesling Smaragd shows very clear, elegant and delicate, ripe and concentrated fruit on the nose. Crystalline, saline, elegant and finessed on the palate, this is a fresh, savory and spicy, delicate yet persistent Riesling with a balanced body and good, stimulating length. Probably Hirtzberger's finest 2021 Riesling. Tasted at Schloss Dürnstein, Wachau, in September 2022.

Spitz. The same graceful smokiness that seems to lace through so many of the Hirtzberger wines is on full display here. Delicate apple and melon aromas. On the palate, stony and savoury with a filigreed fruitiness and elegance. Delicate phenolic grip with a lingering saline finish. (PS)
