2017 Franz Hirtzberger Ried Steinporz Riesling Smaragd

The 2017 Ried Steinporz Riesling Smaragd is intense but pure and flinty on the nose, with clear, ripe white fruit aromas intermixed with scents of crushed stones and lemon leaf. Full-bodied, lush, pure and salty, this is a charming but refined, very elegant Riesling from the vineyard where Hirtzberger's stunning Pinot Blanc is sourced. The wine has purity, good structure, vital freshness, mineral tension and length. Very clear, fresh and piquant with very good aging potential. Harvested October 26. Tasted September 2018.
