Punteggio 18/20 · Da bere 1990-2028, Jancis Robinson MW, Jan 2023

The 4.8-acre Selleck Vineyard was planted in 1975, and is named after Dr George Selleck, a family friend of Jensen’s who first introduced him to wine. It sits at roughly 2,200 feet of elevation with granitic and limestone soils, and faces south/south-west. Whole clusters fermented in open-top bins with no temperature control and native yeasts. Wine is California designated as the Mount Harlan AVA was not yet established in 1982. Light to medium ruby with a fine sediment. Aromas of red-apple skin, cedar, dried flowers, dried citrus peel and herbs. Flavours of dried redcurrant mix with orange peel, hints of raspberries, dried flowers and wonderful note of herbs and mulling spices. The tannins are but a ghost-like presence at the edges of the mouth. Still very much alive and delicious with a little hint of sour cherry in the finish. (AY)
