Note di degustazione
Based on 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre and aged 12 months in foudres, the 2023 Gigondas Les Souteyrades is possibly the most exotic of the lineup from Saint-Damien. Kirsch liqueur, blackberries, exotic flowers, and sappy, garrigue-like nuances all define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel, an incredible mix of richness and elegance, and a gorgeous finish. It's another absolutely riveting Gigondas from this estate that readers should snatch up! Drink 2026-2037.

The 2023 Gigondas Les Souteyrades Vieilles Vignes opens with fresh violets, ripe raspberry, dried herbs and minty subtleties. Pencil shavings add more aromatic complexity. Full-bodied, concentrated and harmonious, the 2023 is a delicious Les Souteyrades, wrapping up with remarkable persistence and outstanding length. Although it needs two more years in a cool cellar, it’s still going to be approachable ahead of the 2022, which needs more time to come around.
A blend of 80% Grenache Noir and 20% Mourvèdre, the 2023 Gigondas les Souteyrades is markedly more introverted than its 2022 counterpart. Shy and reserved on the nose, it evokes a discreet, spicy bouquet. Medium- to full-bodied, it’s structured and dense, concluding with a firm, dry finish.
80% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre. Aged for 12 months in foudres. Certified organic (AB Agriculture Biologique). Cask sample. Tasted blind. Crushed red fruits on the palate, with an earthy note and liquorice. Nice sappy fruit. Needs to tame the tannins as they are still just a little bit present (but this is a barrel sample). (AC)
