The only red I was able to taste from the estate was the 2015 Côte Rôtie. From the Collet and Coteaux de Tupin lieux-dits, mostly destemmed, and aged 18 months in 30% new barrels, it offers plenty of black fruits, spring flowers, game and olive-like aromas and flavors. Classic, medium to full-bodied, nicely textured and straight up gulpable, drink it over the coming decade.

Charming, elegant wines like Clerc's 2015 Cote Rotie can sometimes be overlooked in blind tastings. But this one stood out for its sheer finesse and complexity. Mouthwatering aromas of red berries, orange zest, clove and cinnamon lead the way, followed by a medium-bodied wine that's creamy and supple in texture. Already immensely attractive, this should drink well for a decade.
Cask sample. Tasted blind. Mid blackish crimson. Very lively on the nose with some delicacy on the palate but real drive throughout. Great balance and winemaking judgement. Polished but present tannins. (JR)
