Note di degustazione
Brilliant and focused, with bright fruit aromas centered around peaches, citrus and lemon blossoms, then a honeyed richness and very good acidity and freshness. This rare and beautiful medium-bodied wine lingers for minutes on the finish. Will age and improve for many decades. Enjoyable now, but best from 2028.

The 2018 Scharzhofberger Auslese (AP #11) –Gold Capsule– is still covered by a layer of SO2, but flinty-mineral notes along with concentrated, terribly fresh and precise fruit already shine through. Lush and generous on the palate, with a crystalline structure, this is a persistent Auslese with great energy and lingering salinity. It is made from perfectly dry botrytis, which gives a radiant, highly precise and fresh Auslese of great class. The grapes for this AP #11 were picked a couple of days later than those for the Auslese #9. Tasted in June 2019.
The 2018 Scharzhofberger Auslese (AP #8) is coolish, clear, intense and concentrated on the flinty and even rocky nose with its crunchy notes of broken slate and lemon juice. On the palate, this is a generous, highly elegant and refined, beautifully balanced and salty-crystalline Auslese with concentrated but detailed, elegant fruit, finely grained minerals and a long, complex finish. An impressive, great vin de terroir. Tasted in June 2019. (SR)
