The barest trace of new wood combines with pure, refined, remarkably elegant black fruit aromas and silky, round, rich, velvety, extremely ripe flavors and tannins that are completely coated in sap. This finishes with tremendous length and astonishing intensity and while the structure is obvious, the sap completely buries it. Extremely impressive and without question the best wine here today. A definite wine-of-the-vintage candidate for those lucky few who manage to find a bottle or two. Jan 2003, www.burghound.com, Drink: 2015+

(just 150 bottles produced) Deep red. Aromas of sappy, wild red fruits and minerals. Juicy, discreet, strongly mineral flavors in the mouth; smooth but tightly coiled, with elevated oak giving the flavors a dry edge. I suspect this dense, sappy wine is passing through a woody phase of its development.
