Deep ruby. Ripe cherry and dark berries on the perfumed nose and in the mouth. Smooth, sweet and open-knit, with a spicy note adding back-end lift and cut. Combines richness and vivacity smoothly, with a smoky note building and carrying through the finish.

I was able to taste all of he 2012s multiple times, scoring them the same in all cases. The classic Châteauneuf du Pape has beautiful purity and elegance in its sweet black cherry, black raspberry, licorice and toasted-spice aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, perfectly balanced and ripe, with good acidity and tannin, it can be consumed anytime over the coming decade.
Deep ruby. Powerful aromas of black and blue fruits, dried flowers and smoky minerals. Fruity and expansive, with weighty blackberry and mulberry flavors, supple texture and good mineral snap. Becomes spicier on the finish, which is framed by velvety, harmonious tannins.
70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre. Light crimson. Burly huntsman's Châteauneuf. Sweet, slightly simple nose. Lots of acid and tannin on the end. Just a bit simple and jagged. (JR)
