Note di degustazione
I love the 2012 Cornas on release and it’s still showing beautifully today. Terrific notes of cured meats, cedarwood, cassis, and hints of black olives all flow to a medium to full-bodied, elegant, silky Cornas that’s just now starting to show some signs of maturity. It’s shed most of its baby fat and is going to be better with another year or two in bottle and keep through 2025.

While the barrel sample last year showed subtle signs of TCA, this estate has gone to incredible lengths to clean up their cellar and I was thrilled with the 2012 Cornas from bottle. Polished, ripe and elegant, with lots of toasty oak, crème de cassis and sweet spice, it’s medium to full-bodied and textured, with a forward, hard-to-resist feel. Despite its upfront style, I think it has the mid-palate depth and enough sweet tannin to evolve for a decade or more.
