Note di degustazione
One of my favorite wines from Barrett, made from seven varieties, is the 2013 Proprietary Red Pirate TreasuRed. The wine, which comes in a squat bottle that looks like something from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” is dominated by its meatiness, Mediterranean spice and Provençal personality. Even though is has some Syrah and Grenache, it also has Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah. It is dense ruby/purple, full-bodied, juicy, succulent and an ideal bistro wine to drink with full-flavored food. It is a savory wine and fun.

The 2013 Pirate Treasured is one of the best versions of this wine I can remember tasting. Just bottled, the 2013 is going to need a bit more time in bottle to come together, but it is delicious today. The 2013 is dark and deeply spiced, with firm 2013 tannins and plenty of acidity. In this vintage, the Syrah is especially prominent.
