Note di degustazione
(made from vines that were reportedly planted in 1908; done entirely in stainless steel): Bright, green-tinged straw. High-pitched citrus pith and orchard fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of white flowers and smoky minerals. Juicy, penetrating and taut on the palate, offering incisive pear skin and Meyer lemon flavors plus a hint of tarragon. Becomes deeper and chewier with air, finishing with very good clarity, power and mineral persistence.

Vat 1 Semillon is fermented in stainless steel, spending a short time on lees in tank prior to bottling. It sees no oak. The 2010 Winemaker’s Selection Vat 1 Semillon has youthfully mute aromas of lemon peel, fresh grass, chalk boards, fresh lime juice and grapefruit. Very crisp, dry and light-bodied, it possesses an excellent concentration of citrus and mineral flavors, finishing long. Don’t even think about drinking this now – try it in about 5-6 years when it will start to enter its drinking window. It should cellar to 2022+. Tyrrell’s continues to set a very high benchmark in the Hunter, offering a broad range of wines across many price points and styles that can’t fail to impress. Australia’s original Chardonnay – Vat 47 – is partially fermented in stainless steel before being transferred into new, one and two year old French oak barriques. Malo-lactic is avoided. It is matured on yeast lees for around six months prior to blending and bottling. Importer: Indigo Wine Group, FL; tel: (941) 483 1816
