Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2024-2034, Neal Martin, Mar 2024

The 2014 Château de Fieuzal has a high-toned nose with a little more VA than its peers. It's lush and gains harmony with time in the glass, dried black cherries mixed with raisin and fig. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins and a keen line of acidity, and it is harmonious with a lilting, nonchalant finish that perhaps doesn't stay in the memory for long. Fine. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Deep garnet. Sweet and leathery on the nose, slightly pruney. On the palate, this is rather dry and lacks fruit freshness even though there’s plenty of acidity. Pretty chewy. The minus was for lack of freshness in an appellation where, for me, this should be a hallmark. (JH)

The 2014 de Fieuzal has a detailed bouquet with mineral-driven black fruit, graphite and cold stone aromas that achieve an impressive degree of focus. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, quite saline in the mouth with a lightly spiced and attenuated finish.

Tasted blind. Mid crimson. Energetic and toasty on the nose. Quite angular and dry on the end. Not charming. (JR)
