The 2010 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Vaucrains 1er Cru is a wine tasted on three occasions. I much prefer this to the 2007. The bouquet is expressive and vivacious with rose petals and vibrant red fruit, much more detailed than the 2007. The palate is pretty, feminine and bright with fine tannins although like before, it just takes its foot off the accelerator towards the finish. Give it another couple of years in the cellar. Tasted from a bottle from my personal cellar.

Tasted blind at Flint Wines’ 2007/2012 Nuits Saint-Georges tasting in London. The 2010 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains has an open and inviting bouquet: crushed rose petals infusing the light red cherry and strawberry fruit. It is delicate but shows exquisite delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, not much depth or body, but demonstrating some pretty, slightly meaty red fruit on the conservative finish. I have encountered superior vintages from the domaine and particularly from this vineyard, but it should give drinking pleasure over the next 12-15 years. Tasted November 2016.

Tasted blind. Mid garnet. Edgy and quite concentrated with lots of tannin. Still a bit raw. Redcurrant fruit. (JR)

Good dark red. Ripe, wild aromas of cassis, chocolate, cinnamon and leather. Dense and a bit reduced, with a slight youthful rusticity to the flavors of currant and chocolate. Plenty of volume and depth, though. Finishes broad, fruity, chewy and quite long, with substantial ripe tannins.
