Latour made one of the top wines of the vintage, so it is not surprising to find Forts de Latour better than many a more-famous classified growth. A trifle austere and lean, but spicy, with good fruit, a hard, tough personality, yet short, soft finish, this wine seems to suggest potential for improvement, but the personality of the entire vintage scares me off. Respectable given the year. Drink up. Anticipated maturity: Now-may be in decline. Last tasted, 1/83.
