Deep red. Pure, cool, complex aromas of cherry, mint, menthol and licorice. Almost surprisingly sweet and fat on entry, then tighter in the middle, with notes of iron, tobacco and licorice. Less complex in the mouth today than on the nose, but this is quite folded in on itself right now. Finishes with youthfully tough tannins. This needs a good decade in the cellar, and should ultimately merit an outstanding rating.

Aromatically demure, reluctantly revealing a sweet, black mass, the dense, hugely concentrated 2002 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Pruliers is a big, bold, masculine wine. Licorice, asphalt, candied blackberries and cherries can be detected in this medium to full-bodied behemoth’s personality. Good deep red-ruby. Pure, reserved nose dominated by minerals and mint, with black fruits in the background. Broad on entry, then dense and large-scaled, with plenty of body and power. Has a larger structure than the Porrets Saint-Georges. Finishes with substantial horizontal tannins and excellent length.
