Note di degustazione
Shimmering ruby-red. Expressive, oak-tinged aromas of cherry, raspberry, candied flowers and baking spices. Supple and lively on the palate, offering juicy, smoke-laced red fruit and cherry liqueur flavors that smoothly blend depth and energy. Round, even tannins shape the clinging finish, which leaves a repeating red berry note behind.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Abbey Oaks Vineyard comes from vines planted in Willakenzie soils and aged 17 months in 55% new French oak. Pale to medium ruby-purple in color, the nose offers blueberry coulis, baked blackberries, boysenberry, violet and lilac with touches of bergamot, fir, forest floor, toasted coconut and sweet spices. Medium-bodied and silky, it's fruit-driven in the mouth with a firm, lightly chalky frame and great freshness, finishing long and spiced. This is drinking well now but will benefit from another year in bottle.
Such fragrance and aromatic expressiveness with peppery nuances and tarry plums, as well as freshly dug, earthy depth, licorice and violets. So pure and primary. The palate has a very, very rich and deeply cut groove of ripe dark cherries that heads into salted-licorice territory. Stunning and unique wine with such length and depth. Drink over the next decade or more.
