Located in the Côtes de Castillon region on the Right Bank and always a solid estate, the 2009 Château D'Aiguilhe Querre has complex mulled cherry, dried tobacco, cedar, and dried floral notes to go with a medium-bodied, seamless style on the palate. It's textured and has resolved tannins as well as terrific balance, all making for a delicious, over-delivering Bordeaux to drink over the coming couple of years.

A bit more disappointing from bottle than I had expected it to taste from cask, the wine shows a slightly rustic side to its tannin, with a rugged constitution for a 2009. It is a big wine at 14.5% natural alcohol and displays good depth of color. The blend, 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, is certainly ripe, but the wine just seems disjointed.
