The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes 5 Terroirs was glorious from barrel and that has clearly transferred into bottle. It has an extremely pure and delineated bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberry, subtle tertiary and mineral scents that evoke Premier Cru quality. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This is very well balanced with a lightly spiced opening. Beautiful weight here and supremely well integrated oak, this is a class act, one that is not stupidly priced either. Tasted at the Domaine Direct Tasting in London.

30% whole bunch fermentation and 30% new wood. Bright purple, very pretty aromatics, stylish, far from being a blunt instrument. Dark cherry and raspberry fruit, a lovely thread of silky tannins, supported by a savoury touch typical of Gevrey-Chambertin at the back, really very fine. Tasted Oct 2017.
Bright cherry red. Sweet, satisfying, seductive nose. Racy and flattering. Amazing that a village wine can command this price! But it’s agreeable and a nice drink. Good concentration in the middle and a real Gevrey. Hint of cheese on the end – in a good way. Long. One has to say that in this context, it’s fairly GV!
