Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2014-2026, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2014

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Domaine de Montille’s 2011 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a similar nose to Louis Latour’s: austere and minerally, more tertiary in style than Louis Jadot’s Corton-Charlemagne with a light marine influence that becomes more prominent with aeration. The palate is quite effervescent on the entry with orange zest and lime, although it does not quite possess the complexity of the previous two wines and feels smudged on the finish.

Rather smoky. Rich start and then some herbal oil notes. Lots of substance and ambition. Worthy of the appellation. (JR)

(12% potential alcohol chaptalized to 12.2%; no new oak): Lime, quinine and white pepper on the pungent nose. Densely packed and adamantly stony, with electric cut to the middle palate. Finishes with a firm citrus edge and excellent length. This seems as vibrant as a 2010, and more austere than the 2011 Cailleret.

This is also wonderfully fresh and pure with a nose of Granny Smith apples, lemon rind, white flowers and wet stone. There is plenty of size and weight to the sleekly muscular flavors that enjoy excellent mid-palate density while displaying an intense minerality on the saline, dry and lengthy finish. In much the same fashion as the Narvaux this will need some bottle age to develop better depth but the potential is certainly present. This is a Corton-Charlemagne of power and finesse. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2021+
