There are 600 cases of the dense purple-colored 2000 Pinot Noir Rochioli Riverblock Vineyard (a Rochioli-owned vineyard just up the street from Williams-Selyem). The wine offers a great deal of promise, revealing plenty of black fruit (black cherry, raspberry, and currants), soil, and mineral notes. Good full ruby-red. Aromas of cassis, black cherry, violet, cola, licorice and sarsaparilla. Dense and powerful, but quite closed in the middle and not as pliant as the Allen. Less supple and perfumed today. But this has excellent structure to repay aging. These young vines produced excellent wine in '99 and again here.
