Note di degustazione
The 2005 Barbaresco is superb. Virile and a bit imposing, as so many wines are in this vintage, the Barbaresco hits the palate with notable depth as well as power. Game, sage, smoke, wild herbs and a host of savory notes build to the huge, explosive finish. Gaja's Barbaresco is sometimes overshadowed by the single vineyard wines. Not in 2005. This is a great showing.

Bright red. Musky red fruits on the nose. Broad, supple and sweet, with an attractive floral quality that gives it considerable early appeal. In spite of its obvious juicy acidity, this is surprisingly open-knit. Finishes with very good length.
Perfume, black fruit, vanilla and a pinch of aromatic spice on the nose. Dusty tannin that dominates the black fruit. Not delivering its money's-worth yet: one for the long-haul. (RH)
Floral aromatics give way to bright spiced red fruits, menthol and licorice as the 2005 Barbaresco opens in the glass. This is a firm, classically built wine of notable elegance. The tannins are substantial yet beautifully woven into the wine's mid-weight frame. This is another beautiful Barbaresco from Angelo Gaja, but it will require patience as it is tightly wound today.
