Punteggio 94+/100 · Da bere 2018-2033, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2015

Most accurately described as an old-school field blend, the 2013 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard is one of the most nuanced wines in this range. The aromatics alone are simply exquisite, but everything about the wine really speaks to finesse and pedigree above all else. In particular, the tannins seem to have really calmed down over the last year. There is plenty of intensity, along with floral/savory overtones, but the 2013 is much less imposing today than I remember it.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2023-2063, Robert Parker, Apr 2015

The 2013 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard (14.4% alcohol) exhibits a deep purple color, sweet cassis, blueberry and blackberry fruit, full body, slightly softer tannins, and more approachability than the Pesenti or Turley Estate. This is the most precocious of the Petite Syrahs but still needs 7-8 years of bottle age. It should drink well for 30-50 years.

Punteggio 93-95/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2014

The 2013 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard is massively tannic, structured and savory, with less of the up-front beauty than is typically present, but plenty of intrigue. White pepper, savory herbs, tobacco, smoke, iron and menthol struggle to emerge from a wall of searing tannins. The explosive finish is so compelling, but what is in the glass at the moment represents just a fraction of what is likely to develop. Ultimately, the 2013 Library is a wine for the patient.
