The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Contrarian is also impressive. A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc, it's medium to full-bodied and structured on the palate, with lots of cabernet blue fruit, toasty oak, chocolate and graphite aromas and flavors. Tight, backward, and closed, yet with loads of potential, forget bottles for 3-4 years and enjoy over the following two decades. These terrific 2014s are made by Aaron Pott.

The 2014 Contrarian is deep, powerful and fleshy, with a good core of fruit and terrific overall balance. The mid-weight style of the year comes through in a relatively soft wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Inky red and purplish fruits, herbs, tobacco and cedar add the closing shades of nuance.
Another stunner is the 2014 Proprietary Red Contrarian, dominated by its 81% Cabernet Sauvignon followed by 13% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. This exhibits classic tobacco leaf, crème de cassis, forest floor, Christmas fruitcake, cedarwood and a touch of new saddle leather. It is full-bodied, powerful, rich, concentrated and yet soft enough to drink now or be cellared for another 15-20 years.
