Note di degustazione
The 2015 Feather Vintage Select is made by Randy Dunn and is all Cabernet Sauvignon aged in new barrels. This rocking effort has tons of dark, cassis and currant styled fruits interwoven with notes of chocolate, graphite, and lead pencil-like aromas and flavors. Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated on the palate, it stays beautifully balanced, has ripe tannins, and is a straight-up gorgeous Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink it any time over the coming two decades.

The 2015 Feather Vintage Select Reserve is a late release reserve bottling from the domaine and should be released in the next year or two. Opening with a dark-fruited core of generous blackberry, blackcurrant and dark plum aromas, the nose has a persistent depth that is truly special. On the palate, the wine turns more red fruited and tart, with a sturdy expression of oak tones appearing later on. The finish is focused, fresh and ripe, lingering with the rich and dense core of fruit that is still young. Only 122 cases were selected to receive the Feather Vintage Selection Reserve designation, and it will go quickly when it's officially released.
Dark red-ruby. Aromas of redcurrant, minerals, cocoa powder, tobacco leaf, herbs and earth reminded me of a higher-octane version of a California Cabernet from the 1970s. Quite suave and vinous, displaying lovely grip and savory mineral complexity to its sappy flavors of dark raspberry, licorice and wild herbs. The very long, slowly mounting finish features outstanding finesse of tannins for Washington Cabernet and lovely lingering perfume. A beauty. (14.8% alcohol)
The 2015 Feather Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that was brought up in 90% new French oak barrels. Its inky purple color is followed by a seamless, pure, impeccable balanced Cabernet that has loads of currants, scorched earth, graphite, and espresso aromas and flavors. Deep, rich, gorgeously pure and polished, with building tannin, it's a heavenly Cabernet Sauvignon that has everything you could want. It’s the finest vintage to date of this cuvée and is capable of lasting for 20-25 years. Another estate that’s been on a roll lately is Alan Shoup’s Long Shadow Vintners, with the wines made/managed by the incredibly talented Gilles Nicault.
